Frequency & the Human Experience
Sound is a physical event before it is an emotional one. This section follows that chain - vibration, ear, brain, feeling - and rates the strength of the evidence at every step.
What this section is
Claims about frequency sit at two extremes. On one side, decades of randomised trials show that music measurably reduces anxiety before surgery. On the other, tones are sold as capable of repairing DNA. Both are described with the same confident language.
Every page here carries an evidence rating so you can tell at a glance whether you are reading settled physics, a moderate clinical finding, an emerging laboratory result, or a popular claim with no support. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and we say plainly when the research is thin.
How we rate evidence
- Evidence rating: Established science
Well-replicated physics or physiology that is not seriously disputed in the peer-reviewed literature.
- Evidence rating: Strong clinical evidence
Supported by systematic reviews or meta-analyses of randomised controlled trials in humans.
- Evidence rating: Moderate evidence
Multiple human trials point the same way, but sample sizes, blinding, or consistency limit confidence.
- Evidence rating: Emerging research
An active research area with promising but still-unsettled findings; replication is ongoing.
- Evidence rating: Preliminary
Small, early, or mostly laboratory studies. Treat conclusions as provisional.
- Evidence rating: Insufficient evidence
The question has been studied, but current research cannot answer it either way.
- Evidence rating: Popular claim
Widely repeated in media, marketing, or tradition, with little or no controlled research behind it.
- Evidence rating: Unsupported
Contradicted by established science, or based on a factual error that can be checked directly.
